Mahmoud Abbas Re-elected Fatah Boss

Mahmoud AbbasPalestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, also known by Abu Mazen, has re-elected to lead Fatah movement. Thousands of delegates on Saturday celebrated at the Palestinian movement’s first convention in two decades, and giving Abbas new mandate for peace talks with Israel. Addressing the delegates in the biblical West Bank town of Bethlehem., Abbas openly challenged his counter part Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by swearing to liberate Palestinian land, also vowing for established an independent state and get Jerusalem as its capital.

US-backed Abbas, succeeded iconic Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat in 2004 after his death. According to Fatah’s constitution he can lead the party only for 5 years, in anticipation of a new conference is held. However, it is the first time Fatah activists have met in two decades and not clear when the member can convene again.

Addressing the Fatah members after the voting Abbas promised to change. He said “This convention must be a new beginning for the Fatah movement.” He added “In our history we’ve had many launches and setbacks. Sometimes we have reached the edge of the abyss, but we have always returned stronger.”

Raksha bandhan Day Celebrated

Raksha bandhan Raksha bandhan is a Hindu festival. It symbolizes the eternal bond of love between brother and sister. The day was celebrated with traditional fervor on Wednesday in New Delhi, India with individuals visiting their siblings with sweets and gifts. Teenagers additionally visited temples in several areas of the city.

Girls dressed in fineries and daubed foreheads of the brothers with vermilion. After that tied colorful Rakhis on brother’s wrists with prayed for their happiness. A student of Jawaharlal Nehru University Riti said “It is a festival which is so close to my heart. I woke up early in the morning and offered puja for my elder brother. Then I tied a Rakhi on his hand in turn he pledged to protect me from all adversities.”

On the other hand, citizen from South India are celebrating today the Avaniatam festival. In this festival Brahmins go to temples to make puja and afterwards change their holy threads. Among the participant in the festival, an engineering student G. Arvind said “We went to the nearby temple for the puja to change our poonal (sacred thread). The rituals went on for around two hours. A lot of delicacies are being prepared at home and I am waiting to feast upon them.”

To maintain to the extra rush of devotees, Delhi Metro has decided to operate today 60 extra trips. Besides, the DMRC will deploy additional staff to serve to the further rush of commuters. The administration has offered today free travel for women in the DTC buses and low-floor buses to ease their trip to the houses of their brothers. For the festivals, tight security has been imposed on streets and crowded places. A lot of security forces have deployed in markets, popular hangouts like India Gate and amusement parks to avoid any unpleasant incident. All security system is centrally monitored.

First Colorful Glass Temple in Malaysia

Hindu temple built with around one million pieces of colorful glass is going to be unveiled soon in Malaysia. It has named The Arulmigu Sri Raja Kallamman temple, located in Jalan Tebrau in Johor Bahru state. Malaysia’s first glass temple will be a boon to Hindu devotees and also be a great tourist attraction. The temple is air-conditioned and could accommodate more than 1,500 devotees. It will be officially opened on 25 October.

Temple Chairman S Sinnathamby said the temple is the first glass temple of its type over the world and built at the expenditure of RM3 million Sinnathamby told 95% of the temple’s walls, domes, pillars and ceiling were adorned with above a million pieces of colorful glasses which imported from Japan, Thailand, and Belgium. He said “The glassworks were carefully placed together by nine Myanmar workers. Motifs and symbols like Swastika, Namam and Sri Chakra were created from the glasswork in seven colors.” Sinnathamby mentioned the glass temple was built on the land awarded in 1922 by the Sultan of Johor and in 1996, renovated for the first time.

Havana Wants to Talk Washington but ………

Raul CastroCuba’s President, Raul Castro, has showed interest to talk to the Obama administration and relieve more than 50 years of enmity following olive branches from the Washington. Cuba’s leader said he agreed to respond to USA’s effort to recast their diplomatic relations. However, he insisted Cuba’s socialist system was solid and would not be negotiable. He said, “We are ready to talk about everything but not to negotiate our political and social system,” he told the national assembly on Saturday.

In a standing ovation, Raul told he had not been elected Cuba’s President to return capitalism or surrender the revolution. He said “I have to say; with all due respect to Mrs Clinton … they didn’t elect me president to restore capitalism in Cuba, nor to hand over the revolution. I was elected to defend, maintain and continue perfecting socialism, not destroy it.”

February 24, 2008 Castro was elected President for National Assembly as his ailing brother Fidel Castro made announced his objective not to stand for President once more  on 19, February, 2008.

78-year-old Cuba’s President said there was now an opportunity for negotiations that the White House had drabbed Bush-era aggression towards Havana. Castro said “It’s true there has been a diminution of the aggression and anti-Cuban rhetoric on the part of the administration.”

The USA is the only one country in the hemisphere to not get diplomatic ties with Cuba. Many critics consider it as anachronistic and self-defeating. However, Obama has authorized the continuation of discussion over migration and disaster preparedness which were severed throughout the Bush administration.

India and China in Same Point on Green House Issue

green house emissionsIndia’s environment minister Jairam Ramesh has informed that India would not sign up to officially binding greenhouse obligations for no less than 10 years. Ramesh told absolute reduce in greenhouse gas emissions would not even be considered till 2020.

This comment was made ahead of the decisive negotiations in Copenhagen, Denmark in December. The strengthening of New Delhi’s position coincides with China’s discontent at what it regards as Western pressure. Earlier India and China complained the so-called developed world as they failed to meet its own targets. Both countries blame them responsible for the historic global emissions.
